Paris in Winter

One of my last deployments while I was in the military was to the South of France. Rough Duty, but someone had to do it. Besides enjoying all the great wine and food of the south, I was also blessed to be able to visit Paris. Throughout all my travels, I have visited many places but Paris was my favorite. I even went the in the middle of winter, January. It was so beautiful that it took my breath away. I never even went into the subway system. I could not bare not to see the beautiful architecture and scenery. I walked and walked and continued to walk for hours. Here are just a couple of photos of my favorite places. These places are the Eiffel Tower, San Chappelle (cathedral with beautiful windows), the Lourve, Paris Skyline and the Arc de Triomphe.

This is my aircraft. Or at least it was for 20 years. It is a KC-135 Stratotanker. It is a very versatile aircraft. We refueled all types of aircraft from the AC-130 Gun ship to every Air Force Fighter out there. We have refueled the B-52 , the B-1 and the B-2. We also refuel the C-141 and the C-5. Each a challenge but great fun. It was also used to transport troops all over the world. For more about this remarkable aircraft, go to the Boeing KC-135 website.

A little about me. I am a retired Air Force disabled veteran. I flew KC-135 tanker aircraft for 20 years as a Navigator. I had the honor of being in the first all female tanker crew. That was back in the early 80's. There was our commander Capt Marilyn Koon, our co-pilot Carol Donahoe, myself, the navigator, Third pilot Gabrielle Thorp, Boom Operator Sharon Abraham and our Crew Cheif.

I was blessed to be able to travel the world. I have been to South America, Iceland, all over Europe and to the Pacific. I have seen Paris, Dublin, Tokyo, London, Munich, Seoul, Rome and many other beautiful cities. Believe it or not, one of my favorite tours was 2 weeks at Wake Island in the middle of the Pacific. Nothing to do there but fly, sit on the beach and bond with friends and collegues. More later.........
